It’s that time of year again where people are assessing what will be the high profile fitness trends of 2016. Here are some of my predictions.
Wearable technology.
You don’t need me to tell you that one of the biggest fitness trends of the last couple of years will continue to be one of the most influencial ways people will look towards improving their health. Fitness trackers, smart watches, heart rate monitors, and GPS tracking devices will continue to be a massive help through the next year.
Bodyweight training.
Convenient, affordable and it’s ability to be done anywhere, Bodyweight Training is another fitness trend that will continue to be as prevalent as ever over the next year. I’m a big fan of bodyweight training as it is one of the most natural ways to develop and maintain fitness, and with the ever expansive exercise tutorials that can be found in all corners of the internet it’s no longer limited to just push-ups and pull-ups.
Strength training.
Primarily for building muscle, strength training is also a great way to burn off the calories, rid yourself of fat, and help protect bone health and muscle mass. Making strength training an important part of your workout calendar.
Functional fitness.
Taking your dog for a walk, tackling the stairs, tidying up after your loved ones, Functional fitness is all about the activities of daily life. One of the best fitness trends of 2016 as it’s all about keeping active.
Fitness for older adults.
After 40, many people begin to lose muscle and strength, fitness programs that aim to keep older adults healthy and active are becoming crucial. Health and fitness professionals are continuing to focus on creating age-appropriate and safe workout programs in 2016.
Yoga.
Yoga continues to be as popular as ever and with the continued rise of classes and indeed members to these classes all throughout the country. It’s easy to see why this all body fitness activity will continue to be as popular in 2016
